Super Brownies

I found this in one of my cookbooks. These are by far the best brownies I have ever had! They would go over great at bake sale or something of that mater. Next time I try this I am going to use either butterscotch or peanut butter chips as the base and add in the semi sweet chocolates.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c. butter, cubed
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 4 2/3 cups [28 oz] semisweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 c. coarsely chopped macadamia nuts or pecans, divided (I omitted this)
In a saucepan, melt butter & sugar over medium heat. Remove from the heat; stir in 2 cups chocolate chips until melted. Transfer to a mixing bowl; beat in water. Add egs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla.

Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; beat into the chocolate mixture until smooth. Stir in 2 cups of chocolate chips and 1 cup of nuts (if using). Pour into a greased 13"x9"x2" baking pan. Sprinkle w/ remaining chips and nuts.

Bake at 325 for 55 minutes or until the center is set (do not overbake).
