Peanut Butter Coconut Woofies

Our boxer liked to tear things apart when we would leave the house.
We were always against caging him up when we left, because we feel as if it is his house too.
So in a attempt to stop all the shredding of things while we were gone,
we started giving him 2 treats when we left.
Slowly but surely the madness stopped.
I honestly don't know if it was because of the treats or him just getting older and wiser.
I'm not willing to find out so I continue to give him treats.

I recently ran out of the home-made ones that I made for him,
so I was forced to give him the store bought ones we still had left over.
He ate them, but you could see the hesitation that he didn't want them,
he wanted his Momma's treats.
I have a bunch of different recipes for doggie treats saved and I will attempt to make them all.

As you can see from the bubble hanging off his lips he is dying to chomp into these.
One thing is for sure, if you can't stand slobber you don't need a boxer!
I do find it quite gross, but I live with it because look at him,
he's so pretty!
I think he likes these more than the last ones.
He wasn't so slobbery with those!

I had to tuck these away really quick before someone thought they were cookies for us.
I don't have my bone cookie cutter yet, I couldn't find one at the store.
I had to order one off Amazon
I can't wait for them to get here.
I get so excited when I order stuff for my kitchen!

What you'll need...
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1/2 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp applesauce

What you'll do...
  1. Preheat your oven to 350.
  2. In a medium bowl combine all your dry ingredients.
  3. In a small bowl combine all your wet ingredients.
  4. Mix the wet in with the dry, until well combined.
  5. Knead into a well incorporated ball.
  6. Roll out dough to 1/2" thick.
  7. Cut out treats and place on an unlined cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Store in an airtight container or in freezer (I keep mine in the freezer so they will keep longer and he really seems to enjoy them better this way as well).

Our dog actually prefers his momma's treats as I call them vs. the store bought ones. This recipe seems to be his favorite so far. I have some more saved that I do plan on trying.
